The Tegam M1130A and Agilent's 8478B are both 18 GHz Coaxial Thermistor Mounts.
Both sensors make accurate RF measurements and are used in very similar applications. However, the Tegam M1130A has some distinct advantages over the Agilent 8478B.
- M1130A has a significant advantage over 8478B at 50 GHz.
M1130A has two additional decades of measurement frequency range.
M1130A production SWR data exceeds (meaning lower SWR) the manufacturer’s “typical” claim for 8478B above 1 GHz.
The following chart presents a comparison of the specification for M1130A and 8478B. Not e that 8478B is only specified between 10 MHz and 18 GHz whereas the M1130 serves the entire range between 100 kHz and 18 GHz. The specification limit for a standard 8478B at the critical 50 MHz point is 1.35, where the limit for M1130A is 1.1. In the range between 1 GHz and 18 GHz, the M1130A specification is higher than the 8478B for approximately the same portion of a decade as the 8478B is higher than the M1130A.
